Studbooks
Studbook I:
This studbook is for purebred Lipizzaners with the lowest score in an aspect of the evaluation being 6 and occurring no more than once and a minimum overall score of 70 in stallions and 65 in mares.
Studbook II:
Purebred Lipizzaners that have received a minimum score of 5 no more than twice in the evalustion.
Studbook III:
Purebred Lipizzaners that received a score of 5 more than twice (or received a score lower than 5) in its evaluation. These horses are not suitable for breeding Lipizzaner horses and their offspring cannot be included in studbooks I or III.
Naming
Colts receive a multipart name: first that of their stallion dynasty then that of their dam. For example, Pluto Favoressa and Montanegra would have a colt named Pluto Montanegra. (If they had multiple colts their second would be Pluto Montanegra I, third Pluto Montanegra II and so on). A filly’s name must end in the letter “a.” As far as possible it would be ideal if she had a name from her mare family.
At all cost a name change should be avoided. The exception is where it has been given one that is not breed suitable or from places where mares are traditionally given stallion names and numbers. The horse’s original name should always be cited in parentheses on documents and the like thereafter.
